Update on Key worker requests

Published on 20 March 2020

Following our online form today, parents will be notified by text to confirm a child's place at school on Monday. If no text is received please do not bring your child to school.

The details below outline our current plans for Silverhill during the school closures. To clarify Silverhill's position, we intend to operate a two phase approach to ensure social distancing for the safety of both our pupils and staff.

Phase One: All pupils who have one or two parents as key workers and require a school place.

Phase Two: All pupils who have both parents as key workers and require a school place.

Moving to phase two will occur when staffing levels can no longer support pupil numbers in phase one; with this in mind, please refer to previous news items (we posted earlier) for further information and how you need to prepare as the virus spreads and school's capacity reduces.

This approach follows the most recent scientific advice provided by the Government on how to further limit the spread of COVID-19. If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in the wider society. That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.

Breakfast and Afterschool Club

Any pupils who fall under the above criteria and currently access the breakfast/afterschool club facilities will still be able to do so. We are unable to extend this facility for additional pupils.
