Family engagement plays a vital role in not only academic success, but life success. We take great pride in the work we do around family engagement and the way in which we work with our local community.
Across the school year, Silverhill pupils engage in many activities alongside their families and the local community. From weekly Merit Assemblies to regular open afternoons, parents are welcomed at Silverhill to join in and celebrate learning.
Within the local community, Silverhill pupils are recognised for their respect, dedication and hardwork as we enhance our curriculum by utilising local community facilities and opportunities . As a school, we have developed close links with our local church, All Saints in Mickleover, and Silverhill pupils visit the church throughout the year, as well as Rev Peter Whalley visiting the school for assemblies.
Links have also been developed with local Residential Homes and Royal Derby Hospital with visits from our School Choir.
We also work with local businesses to provide career education opportunities for our pupils.
One example of this can be found here, on the Redrow Homes Site.
Silverhill is not part of a Multi Academy Trust. We are Local Authority maintained and we see no significant benefit, in the current educational climate, to join a MAT.
However, we are part of a number of collaborative partnerships which prove to be beneficial to both raising standards for our children and furthering professional development and career opportunities for our staff.
These are our partnerships:
